# Archives and sources: Malta (MT)

Where records created in Malta are held, whether they can be found online, and the archives and providers EasyPassport has vetted for them. ## Can these records be found online?

No. These records cannot be found by searching the web. Do not search; collect the routing detail below and order the record offline, or suggest a specialist.

Nothing is online, so there's nothing to find by searching. The Public Registry (Identità) holds every civil act from 1863 and will post a certified copy worldwide for €2.50–€9.95 — that is the workhorse, and it is the answer. Pre-1863 is parish (Mdina Cathedral Archives), offline. The eligibility trap for Malta is not finding the document: the descent rules are gendered and generation-capped pre-1989.
