# Archives and sources: Lithuania (LT)

Where records created in Lithuania are held, whether they can be found online, and the archives and providers EasyPassport has vetted for them. The list is keyed on the country where the record was created, usually the ancestor's birthplace, which is not always the country the user is applying to. For an ancestor born elsewhere, ask for that country's list. For the office, request channel, apostille authority and translation rules, use the "country record playbook" guide for LT.

## Can these records be found online?

Partly. Some records are online but coverage is incomplete; set the user's expectations.

Roman Catholic church registers (4,575 books, 208 parishes, 1599–1940) are on ePaveldas / EAIS. CRITICAL GAP: the NON-Catholic registers — Orthodox, Old Believer, JEWISH, Lutheran, Karaim — plus civil registration 1940–2007 are held at LVIA but are NOT published online (reading-room and intranet only). So if your ancestor is Litvak/Jewish, those records are NOT on ePaveldas — searching there for them is fruitless.
