# Archives and sources: Hungary (HU)

Where records created in Hungary are held, whether they can be found online, and the archives and providers EasyPassport has vetted for them. The list is keyed on the country where the record was created, usually the ancestor's birthplace, which is not always the country the user is applying to. ## Can these records be found online?

Partly. Some records are online but coverage is incomplete; set the user's expectations.

Two layers, and only one has images. State CIVIL registers 1895–1980 are browsable as images at adatbazisokonline.mnl.gov.hu. Church PARISH registers (pre-1895) are a FINDING AID ONLY there — it returns locality, denomination, year range and microfilm number, and MNL says plainly you cannot search personal names. Statutory access windows gate everything: birth 110 years, marriage 86, death 30. mnl.gov.hu itself is the institutional site and holds no images.
