# Archives and sources: Czech Republic (CZ)

Where records created in Czech Republic are held, whether they can be found online, and the archives and providers EasyPassport has vetted for them. The list is keyed on the country where the record was created, usually the ancestor's birthplace, which is not always the country the user is applying to. ## Can these records be found online?

Partly. Some records are online but coverage is incomplete; set the user's expectations.

There is NO national portal — you MUST route by the ancestor's region before searching. Prague city: katalog.ahmp.cz. Central Bohemia: ebadatelna.soapraha.cz. South Bohemia: digi.ceskearchivy.cz. West Bohemia: portafontium.eu. North Bohemia: digi.soalitomerice.cz. East Bohemia: aron.vychodoceskearchivy.cz. South Moravia: mza.cz. North Moravia + Silesia: digi.archives.cz. TWO NATIONWIDE CROSS-CUTS override the region: a JEWISH ancestor's registers are at vademecum.nacr.cz, and MILITARY registers at vuapraha.cz, regardless of where the person lived. Recent registers (under 100/75 years) are still at the municipal registry office, not the archive.
