# Archives and sources: Cyprus (CY)

Where records created in Cyprus are held, whether they can be found online, and the archives and providers EasyPassport has vetted for them. The list is keyed on the country where the record was created, usually the ancestor's birthplace, which is not always the country the user is applying to. ## Can these records be found online?

No. These records cannot be found by searching the web. Do not search; collect the routing detail below and order the record offline, or suggest a specialist.

A confirmed dead end — the government WITHDREW its own civil-registry search, and now states you must apply in person so your identity can be verified. Nothing is digitized for public search. Records are at the District Administration Offices; church records are with the Church of Cyprus, offline. You'll need the DISTRICT — from there, an expert or a Cypriot consulate can help. Note the pre-1960 descent route is male-line only.
